- Description
We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Engineer to carry out installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of domestic electrical systems, including central heating control wiring. This role is suited to a professional electrician who can work efficiently, safely, and to a high standard while delivering excellent customer service.
Overview of the Role
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for completing electrical installation and maintenance works across residential properties. This includes fault finding on central heating control systems, responding to breakdowns, completing remedial works, and producing all required certification in line with current industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair works
- Wire and fault find domestic central heating control systems
- Complete repairs and minor works following installations or remedial requirements
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent call-outs as part of an on-call rota
- Deliver work efficiently while meeting agreed quality, safety, and time standards
- Ensure all works are completed in line with company procedures and industry codes of practice
- Provide a professional, respectful service when dealing with residents and clients
Key Duties
- Manage own workload, including ordering parts and progressing jobs to resolution
- Update job status via handheld/mobile systems and back-office platforms
- Liaise with residents, clients, and internal teams regarding works being undertaken
- Ensure all PPE is present, correct, and used at all times
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring calibration and safe operation
- Keep appointments and communicate clearly with residents and clients
- Complete job sheets, certificates, reports, and other required documentation
- Submit accurate timesheets, expenses, and delivery documentation weekly
- Attend team briefings, training sessions, and company meetings as required
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and trades to meet performance targets
- Remain up to date with current standards, regulations, and best practice
Skills & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds 2382 / AM2)
- 2391 or 2394/2395 Testing & Inspection (or equivalent)
- Gold ECS Card (NVQ Level 3)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with door entry and warden call systems (or transferable skills) is advantageous
Experience Required
- Experience working within the social housing sector on installation and/or maintenance contracts (desirable)
- Experience wiring domestic heating systems or the ability to learn and adapt quickly
- Full UK driving licence
- Successful completion of DBS and reference checks prior to employment
