Solar Thermal/PV Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Solar Thermal / PV Engineer to deliver and optimise renewable energy systems across residential and multi-residential housing projects. This role focuses on low-carbon heating and hot water solutions, working closely with installers, local authorities and project teams to ensure systems are compliant, efficient and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, commission, service and repair solar thermal systems
Diagnose and resolve technical faults
Carry out heat demand calculations, system sizing and performance modelling
Produce technical drawings, schematics and specifications
Support integration of solar thermal with heat pump and hybrid systems
Ensure compliance with building regulations and renewable energy standards
Support planning applications and sustainability strategies
Oversee installation quality, commissioning and performance testing
Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements

Essential Qualifications:

Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, BPEC or equivalent Electrical qualification
Level 3 Solar PV Installer qualification
Full UK Driving Licence

Skills & Experience:

Experience with heat pumps, district heating or hybrid renewable systems
Proven experience delivering or designing solar thermal systems (ideally within social housing or the built environment)
Strong understanding of domestic hot water and low-temperature heating systems
Experience with system sizing tools and energy modelling software
Ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawings
Strong technical reporting and communication skills
